The Linux exit command is used to exit the current shell.
Executing exit allows the shell to exit with the specified status value. If the status value parameter is not set, the shell exits with the default value. Status value 0 represents success, and other values represent failure. exit can also be used in scripts to exit the currently running script and return to the shell.
