The lstat() function can return information about a file or symbolic link.
array lstat ( string $filename )
This function can collect statistical information about the file or symbolic link named filename, and is similar to the stat() function. The difference is that if the filename parameter is a symbolic link, it returns the status of the symbolic link itself, not the status of the file pointed to by the link. Symbolic Link.
